Getting Started
The Process
To develop the best aid strategy for your institution, J.M. Webre & Associates will work closely with your team to carry out the following steps:
- Data Analysis: Gather and analyze three years of your most recent student enrollment data, studying the relationship between enrollment yield and level of awarded grant aid. Statistical methods include logistic regressions and neural networks.
- Leveraging analysis: This step will combine traditional leveraging matrix techniques with regression analysis described above.
- Matrix Development: Matrices will be created for applicants with similar price sensitivity, with financial need plotted against academic ability.
Once the audit and analysis have been completed, the next step is the development of the interactive decision model.

The Model
At the end of this process, your institution will receive an intuitive, interactive model in which awarding strategies can be tested and compared. Outcomes are displayed and updated constantly so that planners can easily see the impact changes will have on tuition revenue, discount, headcount, and other variables.
With this model (a stand-alone Microsoft Excel awarding algorithm) you will be able to automatically package prospective students in accordance with your leveraging plan. This algorithm will also provide reports, which can be used to monitor your award strategy, and it will allow you to make adjustments wherever necessary.
